Star Fox 2 Delayed, Keep The Letters Coming

As Warp Pipe Technologies moves in new directions in order to bring a new level of interactivity in the games you play, we are also continuing to bring gamers the opportunity to voice their concerns over lack of support for the Nintendo GameCube Broadband Adapter.

According a report filed by IGNCube late last week, "Namco's forthcoming space and land-based shooter for GameCube, tentatively titled Star Fox, will not ship this year. The title was formerly scheduled for a late November 2004 ship date, but has instead been quietly repositioned for a 2005 release, allege insiders."

This development comes two weeks after Warp Pipe Technologies decided to play the role of consumer advocate and started a letter drive to rally for LAN support, which was said to be a feature specified in the early design documents. We decided to take this stance after seeing what happened to F-Zero GX, which had a LAN mode, but was taken out prior to release because Nintendo claimed it wanted to put the emphasis on the one-player story mode. Ironically, the basis of Warp Pipe was founded on the heels of initial F-Zero GX LAN report, but was ultimately put into action shortly after the news broke that Kirby Air Ride would contain a LAN mode and the rest is history.

With the supposed delay in effect, Warp Pipe Technologies would like to use this time to reaffirm our push for a LAN mode in Star Fox 2. We urge those with a desire to experience a whole new layer of interactivity that LAN can bring to the game to email, snail mail, and call Namco (the developer) and Nintendo (the publisher / distributor). Remember, we highly advocate, especially if you mention your allegiance to Warp Pipe, that you express yourself with the respect Warp Pipe bestows onto its community as well as Nintendo as an organization. The only way to show Nintendo that online connectivity is worthwhile is to show that we are a group of average gamers, not the privileged few who know what an IP address is. If possible, explain your experience with 0.4, which is currently in public testing on our forums, and your prior knowledge of computers and networking before using Warp Pipe.

Feel free to utilize your creativity and distribute this message in any other form you wish. Remember, no spamming please and never break the rules of another forum or mailing list when doing so.

If you wish to do more, Warp Pipe Technologies invites you to contact your favorite gaming magazines (online or offline). Let them know you are interested in further support for the Nintendo GameCube Broadband Adapter and invite them to put pressure on the companies that refuse to do so even though they support the PS2 and Xbox network capabilities. It is the well-informed gamers responsibility to make sure that video game journalism lives up to its name, rather than glorified marketing and advertisement, It is the media's responsibility to hold companies accountable when corporations fail to live up to consumer expectations and, in many cases, they will fail to do so unless the consumer takes action.

This is great we did it. Hooray. Oh my God this is so exciting that I might pee my pants.

Posted by: mefirst at August 19, 2004 09:39 PM

i will do all that i can to make sure that starfox has LAN mode.

Posted by: Cybermunkey at August 19, 2004 10:18 PM

YEH! WE want lan! I love it Chad. Great idea.

Are we allowed to use the banners on our own sites?

Posted by: xur17 at August 19, 2004 10:59 PM

Yea, I me its good advertising

Posted by: thetechkid at August 19, 2004 11:06 PM

Star Fox 2 is a really exciting looking game that I have, and I mean have to put my fingers on it's book. I was first really angry they delayed it but after 30 seconds I realized, "My and everyone else's e-mails at Warp Pipe must have made a difference!" It might have not been us but it better have been. Because if it wasn't then I will be SO pissed. And those doubted Sir. Pointitout's e-mail about Nintendo mentioning the bunch of e-mails have beeter hit themselves six, or seven, time in the face and the A$$. I used that so they don't delete this like those dirty things put up by Chris about honkers. I'm not sure if you guys remember that.

Posted by: tonyrobbinslovespeterasmuchasyoudosilly at August 20, 2004 12:31 AM

Now how about we push for LAN, and Internet, modes in future games as well? I mean why stop at Star Fox? There are a number of other games out there that could benifit from network play. Nintendo keeps saying that network play isn't worth the effort to implement into games. Let's let them know that they are wrong!!!

Posted by: Daniel at August 20, 2004 12:53 AM

Let's keep the good work going guys! Tell all your friends, and have them tell their friends. We can do it.

Posted by: Byrne at August 20, 2004 01:10 AM

Why ask for LAN. Just try and get full online support if you think you can.

Posted by: ness at August 20, 2004 01:37 AM

Way to go Chad, looks like the letter campagain may have payed off, long live warppipe!!

Posted by: Steve at August 20, 2004 06:04 AM

Star Fox 2 looks the part, but so does Metroid Prime 2, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Tennis and the ds and those games. So, why can't Mario Tennis have online features liked planned? Why can't Metroid Prime have LAN or online features? Why just have lan when you can have online. I find it disgraceful, i have been a nintnedo fan since i played the SNES, and Nintnedo have delivered me a few good games, when RARE was about. I might aswell not get another console and use my pc instead.

Posted by: NuclearAl at August 20, 2004 08:14 AM

You guys should also try to ask for Nintendo to support Warp Pipe even if it means just optimizing the way the Gamecubes connect so anyone with broadband can enjoy full speed gaming.

Posted by: danytoca at August 20, 2004 09:15 AM

yeah good job everyone I also sent a letter and will contine to do so on upcoming nintendo games for gamecube and won't stop on Star Fox[tentative title].

Posted by: Goose at August 20, 2004 01:54 PM

I want LAN so bad. This game looks like a lot of fun. It's perfect for LAN.

Posted by: Wonder at August 20, 2004 11:36 PM

It is, and i already sent my email.

Posted by: F0rS4k3n at August 21, 2004 06:15 AM

I send mine again

Posted by: thetechkid at August 21, 2004 07:43 PM

Sent 1 to namco of NA and to Nintendo of NA

Posted by: Darakian at August 22, 2004 12:19 AM

Yes, we should try to influence namco really. I'm going to drop an e-mail to Namco Europe right away.

Posted by: Björn at August 23, 2004 12:11 PM

Nintendo will refuse to tell me that Starfox 2: Armada is indeed delayed. They keep telling me "the estimated date of release remains ..." but will refuse to give me a solid "yes" / "no" on the delay. I've replied 3 times already and I keep getting the same response, just semantical changes each reply. I have a good feeling about this. I had my doubts about Warp Pipe, but I've been release impressed with the 0.4 test application and really look forward to what happens with the group in the future. They seem to have a plan of some sorts, no doubt.

Posted by: Brenden at August 23, 2004 08:35 PM

Yes! I have sent emails to namco and nintedno of america. I will send letters also, and I'm gonna call tomorrow. Everyone keep it up.

Posted by: Setsuio at August 23, 2004 10:34 PM

I sent emails to all that were concerned. Nintendo already replied.
Quote: "Thank you for your e-mail regarding our upcoming Star Fox game for the Nintendo GameCube. As you know, this game is estimated for release in November of 2004. As such, we do not have many details to share about its features. Since I can tell that LAN play is important to you, I will make sure your e-mail is shared with the appropriate departments within Nintendo for review."
"Also, since you mentioned Warp Pipe, I wanted to let you know that this service is not sponsored or supported by Nintendo. Therefore, we cannot comment on the products or services they may offer or even endorse the use of their service with our LAN compatible games."

Posted by: Darin at August 24, 2004 02:08 AM

How about you guys send emails telling nintendo to put LAN in Metroid Prime 2

Posted by: Sephix at August 25, 2004 12:40 AM

Lets make Neversoft put LAN in THUG 2!

Posted by: triforce at August 27, 2004 07:41 PM

lets hope the mario party 6 microphone will work on StarFox2 :P so you can teamchat that would be SO cool

Posted by: hehe at August 28, 2004 05:17 AM

That was stupid they took LAN out of F-Zero. It would have made a perfect game. Also they should make THUG 2 LAN.

Posted by: Flint at August 28, 2004 09:27 AM

It's not called Star Fox 2, and hasn't been for a while...

Posted by: MB at August 28, 2004 12:20 PM

I a HUGE Starfox Fan!!!! I'm gonna send those letters to Nintendo of America and Namco of America right now. I can't let my favorite Nintendo series go up in smoke. It needs to have LAN!! I mean it will be a great game but, LAN would make it all the better. I'll do my part and all you other Starfox fans do yours. Keep up with the letters. That delay to '05 might just be our ticket to LAN Heaven.

Posted by: AJ_Cataclysm at August 28, 2004 04:36 PM

Okay, I've done my part. I have E-mailed Namco of America and Nintendo of america(TWICE) asking for LAN play for start fox. If they make this LAN play and MAYBE LATER Metroid 2 LAN play I'm gonna BE IN HEAVEN!!!

Posted by: Mario Krese at August 28, 2004 04:36 PM

I's really would like to play the star-fox serries online indeed.

Posted by: !Acksn-snish at August 28, 2004 04:37 PM

Ok, I sent one letter to Nintendo for the(i don't know) time! Now I will send a letter to Namco. I hope they put LAN in Need for Speed Underground also.

Posted by: Flint at August 28, 2004 08:06 PM

I'm sorry but I don't think I would like NFSUnderground, I DO think that we should be concentrating on Star Fox and IF POSSIBLE Metroid 2. Nintendo already has KAR and MKDD for racing, not to mention even 1080Avalanche. I love the ideas we're all coming up with but metroid 2 is coming out in mid November so they've probably made it final already, BUT Star Fox is where we've got a chance, so let's keep sending those letters for Star Fox everyone!

Posted by: Mario Krese at August 29, 2004 01:58 PM

please do the lan option, on your game!

Posted by: zoair at August 29, 2004 02:33 PM

Ok, I just sent my second letter to Namco. We might a have chance so let's roll!

Posted by: Flint at August 30, 2004 08:40 AM

I wonder if this game is actualy fun 1vs1..

Posted by: Jestix at September 2, 2004 02:24 PM

Retrostuido's says they won't have LAN in MP2, but I have emailed Nintendo multiple times about this.

Posted by: Physalis at September 2, 2004 08:55 PM

I saw a footage of metriod prime 2's multiplayer. It was cool.

Posted by: Flint at September 3, 2004 12:47 PM

I can't believe that no company would take advantage of the Broadband adapter. If they don't make online or LAN games now, it could be all over before it really started.

Posted by: Flint at September 7, 2004 01:34 PM

i can´t tell with NOA...i live from Brazil...

but...

YEAH!! MORE GAMES LAN! (warp pipe rulez =P)

bye, great idea

Posted by: Anderson at September 7, 2004 08:06 PM

Why don't yall start an online petition, and inform Namco, Nintendo, and magazines about it... It would be easier than everyone writing indavidual letters..... BTW, I sent all of my letters out...

Posted by: Nathan Gannam at September 11, 2004 02:29 PM

I can't wait till we get these games online since I feel lonely playing by myself and that I can't get a girlfriend, but here I can play with people, possibly girls, and get one. Warp Pipe, it rulez.

Posted by: Imsorry at September 12, 2004 03:48 PM

Let's get Warp Pipe on the go go. Heshin a go go baby. Maybe we can get Super Smash Bro. online. SWEET!

Posted by: Cheeser at September 12, 2004 03:50 PM

Look at this email I got back

Also, since you mentioned Warp Pipe, I wanted to let you know that this service
is not sponsored or supported by Nintendo. Therefore, we cannot comment on the
products or services they may offer or even endorse the use of their service
with our LAN compatible games.

Posted by: Bighead6365 at September 13, 2004 05:50 PM

Also do u really think there reading there e mails as I got back the exact word for word of what other people got such as the warp pipe thing and this on starfox

Thank you for your e-mail regarding our upcoming Star Fox game for the Nintendo
GameCube.

As you may know, this game is estimated for release sometime next year. As
such, we do not have many details to share about its features. Since I can
tell that LAN play is important to you, I will make sure your e-mail is shared
with the appropriate departments within Nintendo for review.

Posted by: Bighead6365 at September 13, 2004 05:53 PM

Why does Nintendo do this. Mine said that same friggly thing and I thought I was so special until I saw the one by foxmaster, which was the exact same thing as mine, then other people showed their responces, which were the exact same thing! Gosh! Know what, I'm gonna ask them why. As well as request for more LAN games but not mention the Warp Pipe, I'll say, me and my homies would dearly like to play Star Fox or MP2 or even that cool loking Advnace Wars over a LAN. But AW and SF we have a chance but Nintendo wants Metroid out on time so they probably won't do that one, and I bet they want it to compete with Halo 2. This is my story and I'm sticking to it. Thank You. And good night. Even though here it is only 4:30, it will say on the thing under it was posted at &:30, because on the east side it is that. Go Warp Pipe!!! See my pom-poms?

Posted by: Angry at September 13, 2004 07:44 PM

I meant to put 7:30. not &:30, I gotta stop holding sift, if you can fix that Warp Pipe, that'll be great.

Posted by: angry at September 13, 2004 07:47 PM

Your clock is a loittle off Warp Pipe, you can take this comment off but please fix that, it bugs me.

Posted by: heo at September 13, 2004 07:48 PM

hhh

Posted by: h at September 13, 2004 09:01 PM

We can use the wireless adapter for gba until more LAN games come out.

Posted by: Flint at September 15, 2004 12:55 PM

LOOK. The fact is that even though we're all getting the same reply back that doesn't mean that they're not looking at it, because in reality they are. If someone from Nintendo notices the same type of E-mail from its fans, they're gonna start thinking about what we actually have to say. That's why we did an E-mail campaign, for them to get so many letters to give in and do what we ask of them. Like the Warppipe director said, its all about letting them know to further persue our expectations andf keep us consuming.

Posted by: Mario Krese at September 15, 2004 02:34 PM

Lets all get along, It's jus that Nintendo is at least,, well hopefully, is working on the LAN mode for Star Fox because of the delay. And we shouldn't try so much for Metroid because that will delay that game and Nintendo really has a deadline for this game. So lets just hold our excitement with Donkey Konga or possibly the new Mario Tennis, which should come out on November 8. Or at least Pikmin 2 is out and next month there is Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. So hold your pants on and lets e-mail Nintendo, just for Star Fox, okay? Good.

Posted by: Gretmaniuel at September 16, 2004 10:53 AM

Lets just e-mail and stuff. I don't care if Metroid Prime 2: Echoes gets delayed, it's on the bottom of my list. I think that Tony Hawk Underground 2 is on the top. Lets get that online. I mean we can do it on the other 2 versions, with PS2 being directly online, and Xbox using XBconnect, lets use Warp Pipe, and let's continue to get Star Fox online. I mean on my home planet, Jigglebighuydioma we preserve ourselves when we want something. I mean I'm an adult, I'm 2 years old (thats 18 in Earth years), so lets space e-mail Nintendo and get Star Fox online and Tony, that's Activision. So like we Jigglebighuydiomians say, "Erkle Wids Forka!," or "Let's Do Our Best!"

Posted by: cleaner at September 16, 2004 09:12 PM

All I have to say is that they better add a lan mode. Nintendo not going online was one of the poorest desicions ever. For example, Xbox has build it's "suprising" success on Xbox Live. And of course PS2 has had a couple fun games online like Socom and... Socom. But the point is that Star Fox should have a lan mode.
